Micro$soft Money-Making Tips

Here are a couple of money making tips I’ve learned from Micro$soft recently.

Step 1: When releasing a console, aka Xbox360, pretend to make too few consoles.

Step 2: While pretending to make too few consoles, package the said console into two different packages, premium and core.

Step 3: Are the masses eating from your hands yet? No? Okay, slowly release the console in small quantities, but do so only in the core packaging. After all, core packaging is the same as premium except that you neglect to drop some extra goodies in the box.

Step 4: Remember those extra goodies you didn’t drop in the core box? Okay, put those on store shelves for outrageous prices.

Step 5: Watch as consumers snap up core systems and then proceed to buy the extra goodies at outrageous prices.

Step 6: Roll around like a fat money hog since you have just sold the consumers a piece of hardware for 1.275x the original price of the premium packaging.

Core System ($299) + HDCable ($40) + HardDrive ($100) + Wireless Controller ($50) + Headset ($20) + Silver Faceplate ($20) > Premium System ($399) == FU BIATCH!

    OMG are we a bit mad? :-) Don’t sweat it, insurance companies do that too, sort of.

    Well…. maybe a little bitter. I’ve been calling all of the EBGames stores within 25 miles of my house every day for a week or so. They keep telling me that they don’t know when premium systems will show up but several stores have core systems and have only core systems coming to them on the schedule listing. So, they tell me to call everyday after 3pm to check if they got a premium system in.

    When I look at the EBGames site, I see that some of the really important components like the hard drive are on back order. Which tells me that people are buying the core system and then trying to buy the components seperately. See, you *have* to have the hard drive in order to use XBox Live. In fact, one of the EBGames employees told me that she tells all of her customers to just wait for premium systems to come in because she sees people buying all of the extra crap and paying so much more for it and she feels it’s her duty to inform her customers that they are paying way too much for a console.

    Oh, I’m not selling out on the PS3. I am getting one of those as well. But, I’d also like an XBox360. Besides, it’s okay this time around since both use IBM chips.
